HARO, short for "Help a Reporter Out," is a powerful platform that connects journalists with expert sources. Founded in 2008 by Peter Shankman, HARO was created to bridge the gap between media professionals seeking expert insights and individuals or businesses looking to share their expertise and gain media exposure.
Peter Shankman initially started HARO as a Facebook group to help his journalist friends find sources for their stories. The concept quickly gained traction, and within a year, HARO had evolved into an email list with thousands of subscribers. In 2010, Vocus (now Cision) acquired HARO, further expanding its reach and capabilities.
